The Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT) is a compact and lightweight tourniquet designed for one-handed use. It is specifically designed to quickly and effectively stop arterial blood flow in the event of a traumatic wound with severe bleeding. The CAT utilises a windlass system with a free-moving internal band to apply true circumferential pressure to the extremity. Once tightened, the windlass is locked in place to maintain pressure and control bleeding. Additionally, the CAT features a Velcro Windlass Strap to securely fasten the windlass during patient transport, ensuring continued effectiveness.

The key features of the new generation include a Single Routing Buckle that reduces blood loss, allows for effective slack removal, requires fewer windlass turns, and simplifies training with single protocol application standards. The Windlass Rod has an increased diameter for enhanced strength, with aggressive ribbing that improves grip. The Windlass Clip features bilateral beveled entry, rapid windlass lock, bilateral buttress, and added strength.
